Children in the Garden
A handpicked selection of the best gardening tools and accessories for little hands
When I was pregnant with my first child, I had wonderful images in my mind of gardening together. I was sure it would become our favorite activity. How wrong one can be! Other than the wheelbarrow and the water hose, my daughter couldn’t get excited about anything in the garden at first. Instead of watering flowers, she rather splashed me or her squealing friends. Not wanting to give up, I got her a solid basic set of quality gardening tools, made for little hands.
How excited I was when she eventually started to become interested in cutting flowers for little bouquets and digging, watering and of course snacking strawberries. She mashed soil and sowed her first seeds. The flower teepee became our first garden project together. What I learned is that children take their time. You can’t rush or demand anything as a parent. If they have proper materials, they will want to try and work with them. That’s why it was my desire to put together a little handpicked selection of the best and most beautiful garden tools for kids.
