Sowing and caring for snapdragons
Sowing indoors takes place between February and April. Press the seeds only lightly into the soil (they are light-dependent germinators). As soon as autumn arrives, they can be sown outdoors in small pots in a sheltered spot protected from rain, and the seedlings later planted out in the garden bed. Alternatively, sowing can begin in late February/March (in colder regions, it's best to start indoors in a cool but bright location and then plant directly outdoors from late March/April). Germination can be accelerated by placing the seeds in the refrigerator for a week before sowing, as Cool Flowers require this period of cold. Water well and provide support if necessary. Pinching back the seeds when they are about 10-12 cm tall encourages bushier plants. Regular pruning will prolong the flowering period.
Harvest snapdragons and cut them for a vase
Snapdragons should be harvested when only the bottom 2-3 flowers are open. The best time to cut them is in the morning. They will last about 5 to 7 days in a vase.
