Sowing and caring for dill
Sowing indoors takes place between February and April. Press the seeds only lightly into the soil (they are light-dependent germinators). As soon as autumn arrives, they can be sown outdoors in small pots in a sheltered spot protected from rain, and the young plants later transplanted into the garden bed. Alternatively, sowing can begin in late February/March (in colder regions, it's best to start indoors in a cool but bright location and then plant directly outdoors from late March/April). Germination can be accelerated by placing the seeds in the refrigerator for a week before sowing, as Cool Flowers require this period of cold. Water well and provide support if necessary. Regular pruning will prolong the flowering period.
Harvest dill and cut it for a vase
Cut dill for a vase shortly after the flower heads have opened and formed seeds. The best time to cut it is in the morning. It will last in a vase for about 7 to 10 days.
