Planting instructions
Sowing and caring for shell flowers
As soon as autumn arrives, sow the seeds outdoors in small pots in a rain-protected spot and later transplant the seedlings into the garden bed. Sow the seeds approximately 1 cm deep. Alternatively, you can start at the end of February/March (in colder regions, it's best to start indoors in a cool but bright location and then move them directly outdoors from the end of March/April). Germination can be accelerated by placing the seeds in the refrigerator for a week before sowing, as cool flowers require this period of cold!
Harvesting shell flowers and cutting them for a vase
Cut for vases as soon as the green bells form on the stem. Remove the leaves on the lower half of the stem, as they often yellow. They will keep for 7 days in a vase.
