Planting instructions
Start ranunculus indoors & plant them out
Ranunculus are started indoors in pots in a frost-free, cool location in February and planted directly in a sunny garden bed from around April. They can also be grown permanently in containers and pots. They tolerate temperatures down to -5°C (23°F), but must be protected during periods of severe frost. The tubers should be soaked in lukewarm water for about four hours before planting. Afterward, they are placed on the soil with the "tentacles" facing downwards and covered with a layer of soil approximately 4 cm (15 inches) deep. As soon as the first leaves appear, the ranunculus should be moved to a very bright location. The ideal planting distance in the garden bed is about 15 cm (6 inches).
Care for ranunculus
Ranunculus should be watered regularly and fertilized with a high-quality fertilizer. Waterlogging should be avoided. The location should always be sunny. It is also important to remove wilted flowers regularly.
Harvesting ranunculus
As soon as the blossoms change color and feel soft, it's time to harvest the ranunculus. They last an incredible 14 days in a vase.
