Sowing and caring for delphiniums
Cover the seeds with soil. Sow directly in the garden in autumn or early spring. Alternatively, you can start delphiniums indoors between February and April. Germination can be accelerated by placing the seeds in the refrigerator for a week before sowing, as cool flowers require a period of cold. Regular deadheading will prolong the flowering period. Remove faded blooms regularly.
Harvesting delphiniums and cutting them for a vase
Cut delphiniums for a vase when only the first few flowers at the base are open. However, they have a relatively wide harvest window and can tolerate a later cutting time. The best time to cut them is in the morning when it's still cool. They will last for about 8 days in a vase and are also suitable as dried flowers without water.
