Sow hardy annuals outdoors now!
Some cut flowers grown from seed are winter-hardy and can be sown as early as late summer, autumn, or early spring. The advantage: they bloom from May onwards, thus bridging the important gap between spring flowers like tulips and classic summer blooms. It's always magical when poppies unfold or nigellas display their graceful forms.
Sowing can be done outdoors in late summer. However, we still recommend sowing the seedlings in individual pots first and planting them out in the garden bed later. Important: Start in a covered location to protect the seedlings from rain. If you missed sowing in August/September, you can also start indoors from February and then plant them out in the garden from the end of March.
