Sowing and caring for summer phlox
Sow indoors between February and April. Plant the seeds about 1.5 mm deep in well-drained soil. Only plant out once there is no longer any risk of frost. Can also be sown directly into the garden bed in late spring. Summer phlox is extremely robust and long-flowering. Regular pruning prolongs the flowering period. Provide support if necessary.
Harvesting summer phlox & cutting for vases
Cut for vases when one-third to one-half of the flowers are open. The petals are somewhat delicate, so handle with care. The flowers will last about 7 days in a vase.
