Althaea cannabina (Hemp-Leaved Hollyhock)

The hemp-leaved hollyhock is a spectacular specimen perennial that outshines everything when in full bloom. Hundreds of shimmering little pink flowers appear on loosely branched stems that reach a height of almost 2 metres. Understandably, a fresh to moist soil is necessary for this splendour. Particularly beautiful along fences or in the background of cottage gardens. This low-maintenance perennial is an insect magnet for butterflies, bees and bumblebees.
