Planting instructions

Sowing and caring for cornflowers

Cover the seeds only lightly with soil. Sow directly in the garden in autumn or early spring. Alternatively, cornflowers can be started indoors between February and April. Germination can be accelerated by placing the seeds in the refrigerator for a week before sowing, as Cool Flowers require a period of cold. Regular cutting will prolong the flowering period.

Harvest cornflowers and cut them for a vase

The cornflower is a perfect cut flower. Cut it for a vase when the blossoms are open and remove some of the foliage to prolong the blooming period. The best time to cut it is in the morning. It will last approximately 7 to 10 days in a vase.
